Does a dog know he’s a dog?

Of course he does. Have you ever noticed a dog’s reaction when he sees another dog? When he spots him across the street or coming towards him on the sidewalk. The dog isn’t looking at the human – he (or she, not ‘it’) is looking at the other dog.

The dog realizes, ‘He’s like me’.  He probably doesn’t use the work ‘dog’ to describe himself but I’m pretty sure there is some kind of a thought process going on that makes the connection.

Have you ever seen what happens to dogs at a dog park? They could not care less if a human being comes near them, or a squirrel for that matter. Normally, when a human comes close to them they start to bark. Or show some fear or caution. Not at a dog park. They are running around, chasing each other, sniffing each other, and yes, falling in love. Because, yes dogs and all animals for that matter, have feelings. Their biggest emotion is probably fear, just like humans.

If you don’t believe me then show me the evidence where you have interviewed at least one hundred dogs and the results are conclusive that a dog does not have emotions because that’s what they told you. I will also accept results from humans reincarnated from dogs, or as dogs.

I also believe the same is true for any living being that has two eyes, a nose, a mouth, a heart, lungs, digestive system, etc. The food goes in one end and comes out the other. I strongly believe that there is something else going on in there that humans don’t know about, and certainly don’t understand. We use an animals lack of emotion as an excuse to carve them up and eat them. Humans are not at the top of the food chain. For those of you that think that animals were put on this planet so that we can eat them we should be thankful that lions, bears, wolves, to name a few, haven’t figured out how to raise, herd and butcher humans. Personally, I don’t eat anything that can look me in the eye.

So get a dog, or a cat, or a horse, or a cow or even a fish. Look into their eyes and tell me they’re not thinking.  Some, if not many, people will say that they are not ‘thinking’. But they’re just a couple genomes short of a brick. This post is also about man’s connection to all the living things in the world, from plants to all kinds of animals.
